NOTE: Questions (including FAQ) and community art wall sites will be added soon!
for now head to the discord or send an email to FungaloidOFF@gmail.com
to ask questions :]

1. Introduction

Fungaloids are designed as an open species primarily made up of various fungi,
the species itself is incredibly diverse, accompanying very little limiting factors.
This site will serve as both an info pack on the species as well as a guide
for making your own member of the species and will be updated to add extra
info if it is ever needed!

The primary focus for Fungaloids, ontop of being a very expressive species,
is to document the significant lack of preservation being done to protect these important
species of fungi, being one of if not the most overlooked parts of our world and global
ecosystems!!

Fungaloids as a species serve to bring more attention and information as to why
fungi are such an important part of our lives, without them we would be living in
a world taken over by the remains of unrotted organisms, climates would be far worse
than they are right now, alot of medicines would be lost and not to mention the
lack of alot of commercial foods we eat on a regular basis.

To most, Fungi is often assosiated with dirty environments or are villainised due to
their sometimes toxic and harmful nature, the goal of fungaloids is to also change this
negative light of fungi, informing the dangers of these species while still showing off
their vital importance!

For more info and resources on the importance of fungi and what you can do to help, click here!

^ 20% of everything bought in official connection to the Fungaloid species ^
(adoptables, commissions, merch, etc.) will be donated to groups supporting fungi conservation at the end of every month!
If you're able to make a direct donation to these organisations i'd heavily suggest doing so too!

Disclaimer: Before we get into the information please remember that this species
is entirely open and your character is at the end of the day YOUR character,
if you choose to make you're own Fungaloid, don't be afraid to bend the rules
a bit if it'll better suit the character :]
and if I see anyone getting on at one another for this you will be put in the slime mould pit >:[

2. Formation

Fungaloids can be made in any shape or form, usually coming as something
the Fungaloid has become attached to (sometimes literally) or generally things it
thinks looks visually appealing.
(see attachtment section below)

However before you decide upon an attachtment, you gotta know what fungi your
Fungaloid will be made out of. There are 4 main types of fungus that make up the Fungaloid species,
these 4 types can be mixed and matched as you would like and there is no limit on the
amount of fungi present within one Fungaloid, as always it is up to your own preference
on how detailed you want your Fungaloid to be!

Due to the nature of Fungaloids and fungus in general this amount can also fluctuate and
change during a Fungaloids lifetime rejecting or attaching species as they'd like.
For Fungaloids, this group of fungi is called a Funga Pool.

While the main focus of Fungaloids is to show off various real-world fungi,
detailing their importance and functions to the world, it is entirely possible
to make up your own species if you would like!

To begin making a Fungaloid of your own you must first look into what fungi you want them
to be based upon, the Resources page has quite a few sites dedicated to
the archival of various species that you can look through! However you can
look for species however you want :]
like stated previously you can use any amount, variation or mix of
these species and types as you'd like!

The 4 main Fungaloid types are:

Each type comes with its own set of characteristics which may affect
its physical, societal and/or personal characteristics.

A single fungaloid can be a part of any amount of these typings each holding
their own priorities/ordering within their funga pool, for example
a fungaloid that is mostly made of Mould while also having mushroom species
within it would be classed as a Mouldling Primary, Mushling Secondary, with it being
the opposite if the Fungaloid had a majority of Mushroom with mould species present.
With there being 4 typings this extends to tertiary and quaternary aswell.

Fungaloids can of course also be made up of only 1 of the typings making the
typing pure, take Ramcoon for an example who is a pure mouldling!

3. Attachment

After you have decided what fungi is going to be present within the Fungaloid,
you can begin to decide what attachment(s) it is going to take.

An attachment is how the fungaloid chooses to appear physically, often being based
upon physical objects or animals, although it can really be anything. With the former
occasionally being fused within the body itself.

Much like with fungus types, a single Fungaloid can have as many attachments
as it pleases. Due to the Fungaloids physical state being pretty maliable, it can shift
its physical body whenever and however it feels necessary with practice.

These attachments can be for any reason. Personal sentiment, Physical connection,
or just because the Fungaloid thinks it looks cool, whatever goes really!

Societal factors can also come into play when it comes to a Fungaloids physical attachment.
Depending upon who by or how the Fungaloid was raised attatchments can be passed down or
,in severe cases, enforced.
(see societies section)

4. Creation

Now we're getting into the lore stuff.
For Fungaloids there are a few ways to start off life,
While not being overly important for physical factors, the form of creation for
a fungaloid can lead to alot of adverse factors to their character and story.

While you can definitely get creative and make your own way for your Fungaloid
to be brought into the world, the 3 main styles are usually:

5. Lifestyle, Societies and maintenance

NOTE: As of rn this section is still actively being worked on and written!
expect certain things to change in the future, not everything here is solid!

In different lands throughout time, there are alot of stories to be told with the
Fungaloids! You can class this section as the lore zone for Fungaloids.

Fungaloids first emerged around 500 million years ago during the cambrian explosion
after an asteroid carrying a microscoptic parasite bursted open in space. The resulting
pieces of the asteroid landed within various planets and in the case of Earth began to infect
certain Fungus species, granting them sentience and allowing them to change their bodies at
will. Over time, These early Fungaloids would go on to infect other species, with this parasite
eventually just becoming a part of the Fungaloid's cellular structure, separating them
from regular fungus.

Eventually as the world went on and species evolved, societies would form out of surviving
groups. Each with their own varying levels of success...

These societies are often times dictated through the various age stages of
leading Fungaloids. As fungus based creatures, Fungaloids don't have a
set life expectancy and are almost immortal as long as they have the correct
nutrients and environments to survive!

Finally because of the unique side-effects that come with being
living fungus, Fungaloids have alot of different necessities
to take care of! This is only expanded with the different typings
and species ideal environments.

6. Examples

If you're still unsure about how you want to make your Fungaloid, feel free to look through
a small category of examples detailing with them the original fungi they are based on!

If you have any questions that are not answered here feel free to send them to either
the Fungaloid questions discord channel or to FungaloidOFF@gmail.com

I also occasionally make adoptables of the Fungaloid species, so if you're really stumped consider
buying one whenever they come around by keeping up to date with my Bluesky!
If you ever make art of the species feel free to post it under #FungaloidArt on Bluesky or in the Fungaloid art Channel in our Discord!

If not then in the future I am considering beginning monthly art streams, either on Youtube or Twitch
where I'll be making a Fungaloid with random fungi and attachtments prompted by you guys!
