2C. Yeastlings

Yeasts are mostly known for their use in baking and fermentation.
This process is often encouraged via the use of solid nutrient/sugar rich food
or is turned into a broth, with potatoes being commonly used due to their high starch content,
which is then broken down by the yeast into sugars such as glucose or fructose.
These sugars are then converted into ethenol, which allows us to ferment alcoholic
beverages such as wines or beers.

However baking and fermentation are not the only uses of yeast!
Yeast can be found and is used in a multitude of other fields such as being used to
produce xylitol, a sugar substitute. Saccharomyces boulardii is often used as a probiotic
to prevent various cases of diarrhea and yeast has also found use in aquariums to produce
CO2 within the tank and sustain plants.

Yeast in Fungaloids

For fungaloids, the yeast itself is not usually the base matter for Fungaloids, while it
definitely can be the main material used for the fungaloid's form it definitely is not ideal
due to it being a powder when harvested. Instead yeast based Fungaloids usually opt to have
themselves be made primarily out of products made with yeast such as doughs, breads, bottled
beverages or other more solid materials, with the powdered yeast being on top of the materials.

Because of the usual doughy consistance of yeast-based fungaloids, patterns are often
rippley, much like with slime mould based Fungaloids.

While it is common place for it to be yeast based products that are used for the body,
this is in no way enforced and the products used can be anything, especially when it comes to
bottled items which are often integrated with the body itself (see example below).

Because matter in Yeastlings can be anything, Fungaloids with yeast as a part of their
funga pool are able to get creative with their body in the same way we are able to in
general food production. Concepts such as stuffed crusts or jam filled food are
possible in Yeastlings too.

See the adoptables page for more examples of fungaloids!
